Rhinoplasty (Nose Reshaping)

If you are unhappy with the size or shape of your nose, you are not alone.  A rhinoplasty procedure, often referred to as a “nose job,” still remains the most popular in plastic surgery.  In the years Dr Franckle has been performing rhinoplasty procedures, the most common concerns are:

  • A Large or wide nose that seems disproportionate to the rest of your face
  • A bump on the bridge of the nose
  • A downward facing nasal tip
  • Breathing issues from birth or due to an accident or injury

Many patients are seeking a rhinoplasty in New Jersey to fix both a breathing issue and achieve an aesthetically pleasing nose. Dr Franckle strives to achieve harmony among all your facial features; the eyes, cheek bones and smile with a natural looking, proportionate nose.

About Rhinoplasty

A rhinoplasty procedure is done on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia.  Depending on the patient’s goals and concerns, Dr. Franckle will choose between several techniques to accomplish the best results:

Rhinoplasty Recovery

Immediately following the procedure you will be sent home with an external cast or splint covering your nose to prevent movement.  Initial discomfort is common but can easily be controlled with oral medication. Some patients require packing in their nose for 24 to 48 hours after the procedure. The cast or splint is removed within 7 to 10 days.  Dr. Franckle suggests rest, no exercise and careful movement while the splint is still on.

The majority of swelling and bruising subsides progressively over 2 to 4 weeks. External sutures (if any) are removed within 4 to 6 days.  Internal sutures will dissolve overtime. The semifinal result of a nose reshaping procedure is evident in 3 months. The final result is evident in 12 to 14 months. An additional procedure that may enhance the result is a chin enlargement.

3D Imaging for Rhinoplasty

New advancements in technology have brought 3D imaging to the plastic surgery consultation. Dr Franckle and Premier Plastic Surgery Arts is proud to be the first practice in the South Jersey area to offer Vectra 3D computer imaging for the entire body.  3D imaging for rhinoplasty procedures is a wonderful way for the patient to view different possible post-operative outcomes and to see how these changes would look from many different angles.  It is very effective in facilitating communication between surgeon and patient.  We create a 3D image of your face which is then manipulated by Dr. Franckle to represent some possible post operative outcomes.  This assures the patient that the doctor understands exactly what the patient wants.
