Breast Enlargement New Jersey
Women who desire larger breasts may wish to have a breast augmentation (breast enlargement with implants) procedure. This procedure can restore the volume lost following breast feeding or weight loss. Breast enlargement may also be indicated for women who have one breast that is noticeably smaller than the other. Breast enlargement is intended to give the patient larger and more shapely breasts. A more positive self image may also be a result of breast enlargement.
The Breast Enlargement New Jersey Procedure
Breast enlargement is done on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. A small incision is made either in the breast fold, the nipple areolar area, or the under arm (endoscopic approach) to allow creation of a pocket for the breast implant. The breast implant pocket can be located directly under the breast tissue or under the muscle which is deep to the breast tissue depending on the specific circumstances and needs of the patient.
"Silicone versus Saline: Which Implant Will Be Used?"
The FDA has finally allowed women to make their own choices regarding breast implants. While it is true that both saline filled and silicone-gel filled breast implants are effective in providing larger, more shapely breasts, women who have certain circumstances benefit from the better texture and more natural feel of the silicone-gel filled breast implant. For example, smaller breasted women who desire a larger augmentation typically benefit most from the silicone-gel filled implant as the presence of the implant is more difficult to conceal. The larger the proportion of breast implant volume to breast tissue volume, the more important the properties of the breast implant become in the final result. Dr. Franckle will explain and demonstrate this to you during your consultation. Learn more about the differences between silicone gel and saline breast implants.
Recovery from Breast Enlargement New Jersey
The patient goes home with a light dressing which supports the breasts as needed. Initial discomfort is controlled with oral medication. Dr Franckle usually uses absorbable sutures which do not require removal and leave no suture marks. Light activities can be resumed as tolerated and aerobic activities can be started in about 3 weeks. Moving or sliding the implants within the breast pockets during the postoperative period may reduce the frequency of wrinkling.
An additional procedure that would enhance the result of a breast enlargement is a Mastopexy (breast lift) if the breasts are saggy in addition to being small.
Breast enlargement is considered cosmetic and therefore is not covered by insurance. The patient is responsible for payment. The specific risks and the suitability of breast implants for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are unusual.
