What is Breast Augmentation?
“I love my new body and could not be happier with the care I received at Premier Plastic Surgery Arts. I would recommend them over and over again to all of my friends.”
Breast Augmentation Patient – January 2016
Premier Plastic Surgery Arts has helped many women feel more comfortable and confident in their appearance through breast augmentation. New Jersey women who have naturally small breasts or who have lost volume due to weight loss or pregnancy can enhance their appearance and restore the shape of their breasts with this surgery. Our surgeon, Dr. Franckle, creates customized surgical plans based on the size, shape, and feel that our patients want to achieve. We offer a range of solutions at our plastic surgery center in Voorhees, NJ, and the implants used in the breast augmentation procedure can provide women with the larger, more shapely figure they desire.
There are different incisions that can be made dependent on the type of implant used. The most common incision is hidden under the crease beneath the breast. This provides Dr. Franckle ample room to place the implant above or below the chest wall muscle. Other popular options include an incision around the edge of the areola, which works best for saline implants but can be used with small to moderate sized silicone implants as well. Lastly, the ‘transaxillary’ approach accesses the chest area with an incision under the arm and utilizes endoscopic equipment for proper placement.
Types of Breast Implants
At our office, we offer women two different implant options. The first option is silicone implants. This implant is filled with a silicone gel and comes in a range of shapes, sizes, and gel consistencies. Silicone implants are usually placed underneath the chest wall muscle for long-term stability, and offer a firm, yet natural appearance. The second option is saline implants. This implant is filled with a saline solution and is placed above or below the chest wall and filled to the desired size before the incisions are closed. Saline implants are slightly firmer and are ideal for patients wanting a natural substance (saline instead of silicone gel) within the implant shell.
With our Vector 3D imaging machine, our patients are able to get a sense of how the surgery will transform their figure. We use this technology during the consultation stage at no extra cost to help the patient visualize the before and after effect before surgical planning. The imaging machine produces a “before” model and an “after” model for patients to view, and allows them to modify their “after” model to fit in with their desired results.
Breast augmentation is an outpatient procedure completed under general anesthesia. The surgery typically lasts 1-2 hours, unless it is being performed along with another procedure, such as a breast augmentation with a lift. Once implants have been placed and incisions closed, you will be fitted with bandages and an elastic bra that will hold your new implants in place during recovery.
It is highly encouraged that patients rest for up to two weeks after surgery. Pain medication may be prescribed to help alleviate any soreness during this time. You can resume normal activity within 2-4 weeks. Full recovery takes between 2-3 months.
